Familiar face

My son Preston is 17 today. He was born on the First Day of Spring and he is my proudest acomplishment and the joy of my life. I went up to the store to get him an ice cream cake. I waited until the last minute because Preston really doesn't care that much for cake, but I found out that some friends were stopping over. People aways expect cake and ice cream for a birthday celebration. So, it's 5:45 PM and I go over to the local grocery store. I am scooting around the store when I see a familiar face. A lady is coming towards me with her cart. She looks at me and smiles - I grin back. OK, I never forget a face - but who the hell is that? I have met so many people in my life. Often times even people that I have arrested come up to me years later and speak. "hey, remember me??? You arrested me in '97! remember?" (no, I have no idea who you are or what offense you committed) I never forget a face, but that is as far as it goes! It took about an hour for the light bulb to go on in my head. One of my bloggie friends has this lady's photo posted on her blog! It is her sister and she lives in my small town. Funny that I should recognize her. Had I realized it while I was in the store, it would have been akward to explain who I was.

"Hi, I'm Tuffenuf". "Oh yeah? well, you don't look so tough to me!" No, I mean my name is Tuffenuf- or, oh well, it's not really my name.

Small world, even in blogland!

That's a very funny story! And Tuff, you must have a fantastic memory.

And yes, I think that trolley that I struggled with on Sunday must have caught a flight to Florida to bother you!

I do that a lot...I can remember faces but it takes me about 30 minutes to come up with their name. Today it happened again at our local Chinese restaurant and I was too embarrased that I couldn't remember her name, but I did remember that she was the sister to a patient who had died of cancer and had a log cabin at Lake Cumberland, that her husband owned a heating & cooling business and that he died shortly after moving to a new location. I could remember all that, so why couldn't I remember her name.

Sometimes I sit at Golden Corral and wonder how many bloggers are eating there around me.

I stumbled upon your blog by way of Pure Florida and I bookmarked it right away. My husband loves Airedales!

Was it my blog? Thanks for your comments on my blog.
I have seen pictures of your son on other posts and he looks like a handsome young man - my they grow up so fast. Do you embaress him with stories about him as a baby - all mothers get to do that.

Maybe it is occupational hazzard that you can not remember names. I'm still at the cop shop and everyday gets worse. During season is the worst, the stress level goes off the chart to remember names when they walk in the station, or I stop at the grocery store. Best to go straight home have a glass of wine and dinner then go out shopping and have a clear memory of which I still can't remember names. The wolfman is still as cute as ever. We miss you deeply, not a day goes by that I don't think of you and wish you well.
